October 2024, Week 3

*Today I went to church in Hyde Park, London!  What?!  Ben, Caytie and I took a trip to Denmark to see my parents on their mission, and had an overnight layover in London, so the next morning we went to see as much as we could see in four hours--including spending one of those at church.  It was a blessing to be there.  The Hyde Park chapel has a small visitor's center with a small Christus statue in the foyer.  (We had just seen the original Christus statue in Denmark a few days earlier!)  They are used to having visitors and tourists attending their ward.  I concluded that London is a gathering place for many people.  Two very old Scottish men blessed the sacrament.  A missionary played the piano and a tiny Asian lady conducted the music.  A man from Africa was the Bishopric counselor who conducted the meeting.  The High Counselor who spoke grew up in America and was converted recently as an adult, after attending church for many years with his family, who were already members.  One of the messages that was shared by a sister who grew up in Spain was that this is the gospel of doing, so that we can become.  Also, when we are thankful, we can recognize the hand of God more easily.

It was such a delight!
